BASIC RULES;; - Show some respect! Don't go crazy insulting people, it's not cool. Even if you're just a guest, please be courteous in nature, and do not insult people. If you do, you will be warned -- and if it continues, banned. Hurting people isn't something tolerated on TPS.
- Take serious arguments to the PMs. If you're casually debating about something, and not yelling at each other or disrupting anyone, it's cool, and it doesn't offend me. Everyone has opinions, and I'm not going to tell you not to express these opinions -- but if your opinions get too personal, you've turned a minor dispute to a full-blown fight, are disrupting other members with said argument, etc., you will be asked to take it to personal messages. X3
- Swearing is cool, just not to other people. Don't go talking to anyone -- staff or otherwise -- like so: YO [insertnamehere] YOU BIGASS HOE, I FUCKIN' HATE YOU 'CAUSE YOU'RE SUCH A LITTLE FUCKING SHIT BLAH BLAH FUCKTARD BLAH SHIT BLAH BLAH BLAH COCKSUCKER etc. Er...unless you're like...friends with them, and it's some weird friendship thing? I mean, I've seen people do that...heck, I have friends who do it. xD But if you offend people, warnings will be issued.
- Follow the Proboards Terms of Service. It's a pretty obvious rule, buuuut figured I might as well throw it in here anyways. I don't want to wake up and log on one day to see that the forum's disappeared because somebody was like...posting porn or something :'D
- Do not spam. Please note what spam is, however -- YOU CAN TYPE IN CAPS AND IT OWN’T OFFEND US, and you can type stuff like sifhiajilsdaflsdif without offending us, but if you start typing the same word repeatedly in attempt to annoy people -- this does count as spam. As does any advertisements that AREN'T in the advertising section. ;3
- Only roleplay in roleplaying boards. Again, fairly obvious, but still...basically, don't roleplay in the out of character boards. It's highly annoying, and though it won't get you banned, your thread will be moved, without warning, to an actual roleplay board.
- Art theft is NOT tolerated. This is sort of...revisited later, but, anyways, basically, don't use art that's not yours. Don't display art work that isn't yours in the art boards, or writing that isn't yours, unless it was either made for you as a gift, you have FULL permission from the artist to do so [and aren't claiming it as your own ;3], or are just pointing the members in the direction of some friggin' awesome artist you found. That's fine, but DO NOT post art and claim it as your own. You will be warned, and if it continues, banned.
- Do not bring down others based on what they enjoy. For example, when Azaelia tells you that Glee is the best show ever, you can’t be all NO THAT SHOW IS SO FUCKING LAME YOU ARE SUCH A DOUCHE FOR WATCHING IT. Similarly, Azaelia will try her very hardest not to troll any Justin Bieber fans. Don’t get me wrong, you can make fun of the thing itself -- but don’t make somebody feel bad about enjoying it, y’know?
- Do not create multiple accounts. It's highly annoying, and makes it hard for the staff to keep track of who you are. If you are DESPERATE to have an account per character, PM one of the staff and we'll see about an exception, but mainly this is just so that we can tell who's who, y'know? ^^;
- Your display name needn’t have anything to do with your character’s name. If your character’s name is Billy Fenris, you can still put your name as Ienjoysniffingarmpits or whatever.
- If you are unsure of something in the rules...contact a staff member! If you don't know, they're bound to know. If they don't know, contact the admin. She is all-knowing about the rules -coughsputter-. c: Anyways, just to avoid confusion, yes, contact a staff member if you don't understand.
CHARACTER RULES;;
- No Mary-Sues. These are beyond annoying, and really, having a non-perfect character is so much more fun. :3 If your character has too many perfect traits, a staff member will notify you while reviewing your profile. If you're unsure of your character's Mary-Sue-ness, I'd recommend taking the Mary-Sue Litmus Test.
- Just about any species is fine. If you're really unsure about whether or not the species you're using isn't quite acceptable for the forum, just message a staff member. Or post it and see what one of them says. Lol.
- Powers are allowed, but no more than three. These three do NOT include powers natural for their species, however [e.g. a werewolf’s shifting doesn’t count as one power, because it’s natural for their species].
- The profile form posted? You don't have to use it. It's optional. You can use that one, your own form, a form you found on another site...hell, you can use no form at all! So long as your character has a profile on the site, you're good.
- While most species are fine, species restricted to certain fandoms...are not. For example, though you can play many creatures from myths and such, or even your own personal species, I will not tolerate you trying to create, say, a Pokemon character. PIKACHUS DO NOT BELONG HERE
- Do not rip off somebody else's character. It doesn’t matter if it’s out of a movie, a TV show, somebody online you knew previously, or somebody on this site. If you’re caught naming your sparkly vampire Edward Cullen, your bloodthirsty teenage werewolf Ginger Fitzgerald, or your zombie hunter Columbus -- your ass will get a nice kicking. Or, at the very least, you'll be warned and possibly banned in the future. xD
- Natural = GOOD. As far as animal/shapeshifting characters go, natural colouring is preferred. It doesn’t have to be completely natural, but vaguely so. Basically, no bright green werewolves with purple and yellow spots, please.
- Make sure that your character is balanced. Like natural, balance also = good. : D A character who is physically strong shouldn’t also be extremely smart and pretty and be able to make friends easily. This qualifies as a Mary Sue. However, if your character is pretty, but not that smart, and of average athleticism, and slightly socially awkward -- that will work out just fine.
- Again, do not use artwork that isn't yours. s far as images representing your characters goes, do NOT use artwork that is not your own. I don’t care if you found it on Photobucket or deviantART or Google images, unless it’s a stock image, it’s not allowed. Celebrity claims are allowed, but it’s preferred that you use your creativity and create a character with your own face in mind. Sorry guys, but celebrity claims are EXTREMELY annoying. :/ Azaelia wants you to use your goddamn creativity for a change of pace. Fff. But yeah. They’re allowed anyways, because I know that a lot of people prefer to use somebody else’s face instead of coming up with their own. It’s your choice. :B
- History is optional; personality is not. Yeah, I’ve actually seen somebody try to say that their personality is a secret. xD -amused- History is fine to leave out though, mysteriousness is fun, I hear ya. c:
- Hybrids are allowed, but too many and they will no longer be allowed. I mean, if when the site starts out, a few people create vampire/werewolf hybrids, let's say...and then, a few months later, suddenly sixteen people want vampire/werewolf hybrids, they will no longer be allowed. Those who previously had them are fine, but no NEW hybrids would be created, y'know?
- No gods. Your character cannot be a god(des) sent from their heaven or whatever. No. Just no. You can have, if you really insist, a demi-god character, but please no full-god characters.
- Character creation is unlimited. Try to keep up with them and all, but it's fine if you have like eighty characters. -shrug- Who am I to stop you if you have a burst of creativity and want to make eighty characters? It's all up to you.
ROLEPLAY RULES;;
- No powerplaying or godmodding allowed. his means that if werewolf Bob is having an epic battle with vampire Joe, werewolf Bob’s RP’er can’t write: “Bob leapt forward and viciously severed Joe’s head from his body with his teeth.” BUT Bob’s RP’er CAN write: “Bob leapt forward, aiming to sever Joe’s head from his body with his teeth.” Give the other person a chance to respond. This also means that Joe can’t have powers that could make Bob spontaneously combust either, as this gives him godly powers, which is not cool. O: However, Joe CAN be a firestarter, and start a fire near to Bob -- he just can't describe it killing him.
- Liquid time is allowed. This means that your character can be roleplayed in different places at the same time. It's fine, just try to keep up, really.
- There is no official word count, however it is preferred that you write at least somewhere around 100 words. Again, this isn’t a rule so much as a guideline, but it would, nonetheless, be nice to not go through the site and find a zillion and two one-liners. The absolute minimum would maybe be fifty words or so, but that’s REALLY pushing it. If you need some help writing this much, look on Google for a roleplaying guide or something. I’ve seen some really good ones that help you to expand your posts out there; they do exist.
- Mature stuff is allowed to a certain extent, so long as it falls within the Proboards TOS. If you really want to roleplay your characters having graphic sex, please take it to MSN or something. But what with the site being a zombie apocalypse roleplay, obviously some mature shit is going to go down in terms of blood/gore/violence/etc.
- Lyrics and whatnot are allowed. Feel free to jazz up your post with whatever you please. :3 It's all good in our hood. ;D
- If your character is pregnant, please roleplay it out for at least a month. After that, the baby can be born, or you can wait longer. Hell, you could wait all nine months. Doesn’t really matter. Just wait AT LEAST a month, and roleplay out said character being pregnant.
- If your character undergoes major changes, please edit their log or profile. For example, if your human character is bitten by a zombie and becomes a zombie, then it's best that you edit either their original profile, or, if you have one, their log post. Just for the sake of keeping track of characters, y'know? :3
- Do you have absolutely no effing idea how to roleplay? I suggest you go and Google roleplay guides. Or ask one of our members, but having had people ask me before, and being kind of annoyed to it...it's probably best to just Google, and ask help if you encounter a problem, I guess. Basically, it doesn't stop you from being able to join, but Googling a roleplay guide certainly won't hurt you. :3
- Use some logic plz. A wolf character probably won't go wandering through cities. ;3 A dog would -- but probably not a wolf. What I'm saying is, I don't want to see eighty thousand wolves on this site just because I said that animals are allowed and encouraged just as much as human characters are, roaming around the cities. Why would they go there? The forests are probably safer for them during an apocalypse anyways. o.0
- Try to keep a posting order. It's basic etiquette, really. Don't leave someone out just because they weren't online at the time. This isn't necessary, but it is preferred. This way everyone gets a turn, no one gets left out, and everyone is happy.
- Keep the chatspeak to a minimum. Things like lol, brb, g2g, or btw are fine. But that's pretty much it. Nothing like: Joe walked up 2 Bob & said hey u hows it goin lol. Lol is fine OOC, but not IC. Get what I mean? ;3
- Keep the wolfspeak to a minimum. Trying to decipher a post that flows sort of like this is hard sometimes, believe me: Sally the beautiful cobalt-pelted fae varg's maw opened she let loose a song. Her harks flicked back and her opals closed as she did so...
It's hard to understand, y'know? I'm all for description -- but wolfspeak is just...annoying. xD
- Fights will be judged by a staff member. Please PM them when a fight breaks out, unless it's minor and the winner was already decided in advance or something between you and the other roleplayer.
- Third person is preferred. Not necessary, but...preferred. I find it difficult sometimes to read through a first-person post, not because first-person is hard to read -- but just because it tends to give minimal description about the character, which sometimes leaves your character with little to think about them appearance-wise without visiting their profile.
- Quotation marks are a must! Proper grammar is good too ;3 None of this: *I walked up to Demon.* I say hey Demon you rock what's up how's it goin.
Instead, do something like this: Zimmer walked up to Demon. "Hey Demon, you rock! What's up? How's it goin'?"
